Femtocells create opportunities for new applications of GSM and reduce costs for existing applications due to femtocells being even more economical than macrocells or even picocells. GSM on ships, on aeroplanes, in remote villages and for disaster response are examples of the uses to which femtocells can be put for enterprises, military, government, communities and NGOs.

HSL's GSM/GPRS/EDGE femtocell device and supporting GSM network elements can be licensed from HSL by interested parties for inclusion in their own products.
