Evaluation Programme

FEMTOCELLS, PICOCELLS, FEMTOCELLS, PICOCELLS... so many to evaluate but so little time (and money) to do so. The HSL Femtocell Evaluation Programme may be what you need to kick-start your evaluation of femtocell technology.

The programme provides qualified parties with a short term loan of demonstration femtocell units at no cost, subject to programme terms and conditions. Our HSL 2.75G Femtocell units will initially be available through the programme and we expect to shortly announce further models.

The purpose of the programme is to allow qualified parties to quickly evaluate femtocells from HSL, initially the HSL 2.75G Femtocell, and confirm our femtocell technology for further evaluation or not. The value brought to you by this programme is ease of evaluation in terms of obtaining hardware, deployment and conducting the actual evaluation.

In fact, with the simplest evaluation pack you can have a femtocell operational and servicing mobile subscribers in under ten minutes. This pack includes only a femtocell and is configured to connect via the Internet to HSL's own GSM core network, but will operate as part of your own network. There is nothing for you to configure on the femtocell or have configured on your own network. HSL configures your femtocell based on information that you supply prior to the delivery of the femtocell. Other evaluation packs include software network elements such as BSC/TRAU, MSC/VLR, HLR/AuC and SMSC in additional to femtocell hardware for use standalone or connecting with your own network.

The next stage after the evaluation using our demonstration units is to consider the purchase of the HSL 2.75G Femtocell Trial Package, HSL 2.75G Femtocell Developer Package or arrange a project with HSL to conduct a trial. The packages contain femtocells and a base station controller with support and maintenance at a low entry cost.

The programme is open to qualified parties who are organisations with spectrum licenses or otherwise authorised to transmit in the GSM 1800 MHz band. Demonstration units will be provided for a maximum of fourteen days and the supply of units is limited and at the discretion of HSL. Terms and conditions apply to the loan of demonstration units.
